Meeting the Family

In all relationships, after you do the whole courtship thing, as modern as that can be these days, and settle into a nice groove where you finally feel comfortable defining yourself as a couple, there will always come that point where you have to do that most nerve-wracking of things: meeting the family. Both families. Often on the same day. It always puts a bit of a knot in in both partners’ stomachs, fearing all sorts of things at once: rejection, shame, embarrassment. You just never know what your family is going to say to your partner, and most of all, you just want your loved ones and the person you are dating to get along. If things start out well, that is a great sign. If things go badly right off the bat, the relationship itself may eventually falter.
